JIU JITSU is a martial art and combat sport that teaches smaller people how to defend themselves against larger adversaries by using leverage and proper technique. The Gracie family from Brazil developed the art by modifying judo and traditional Japanese jujitsu to create the art. It contains stand-up techniques designed to bring the fight to the ground to gain superior positioning and leverage. Once the position is controlled the Jiu Jitsu artist can implement devastating submissions, numerous chokes, and joint locking techniques where the opponent will "submit" or give up the fight.

ADULT CLASSES

Jiu Jitsu Modern structured curriculum is designed specifically to help you achieve a new level of fitness and health while developing self defense skills and success in the art and sport of Jiu Jitsu.

Fundamental Program

Our beginner program teaches self-defense and the concepts and principles of Jiu Jitsu. These skills will help you develop confidence and a new healthy Jiu Jitsu lifestyle.

Advanced Program

Our advanced program builds off your Jiu Jitsu foundation. The faster pace of No-Gi and more intricate Gi techniques will keep your game evolving and growing in the gentle art.

Women

The Women of Jiu Jitsu Modern:
We are an eclectic bunch from many different walks of life. All connected with our love of learning Jiu Jitsu. JJM has about 20 adult female students and we are always growing and welcoming more.

At Jiu Jitsu Modern most of our adult female students are officers or first responders, utilizing jiu jitsu techniques on their job to keep themselves and our community safe. Occasionally, we will have womens only classes or open mats. We are a community and team that believes it is important to integrate females into our regular classes to train with people of all types. As a first responder and for self-defense we need to know how to interact with men and grapple people larger and stronger than us.

Jiu Jitsu Modern has a loyal and dedicated female student base and most classes have women in them. To support females that want to train with other females. We have 3 adult classes per week that are “Women Encouraged” where we encourage as many of our female students as possible to attend.

Private Lessons

One-on-one or small group private instructional classes are available with Professors and Coaches to elevate and troubleshoot your Jiu Jitsu game.

KIDS & TEENS CLASSES

Jiu Jitsu Modern helps children release their energy in a healthy and productive way. Our instructors teach children to focus on one task at a time, honing their abilities while developing critical thinking skills. There is a strong emphasis on working well with your teammates. These skills carry over in other areas in their life in a positive way. Creating hardworking, responsible, trustworthy, and confident children.

COMPETITION

Although the vast majority of students practice Jiu Jitsu for health, fitness & self-defense. At Jiu Jitsu Modern we support students who want to test themselves under the pressure of competition.

One of the many things that make us different than most schools is that the owner/head instructor of Jiu Jitsu Modern, Carlos Rosado, is an active competitor and helps prepare his students from ages 5 to over 50 for success in competition.

For Jiu Jitsu Modern children that want to compete, we offer free comp preparation classes for registered students leading up to the tournament.
